Overview
I plan to present using turf grass. I am a senior agricultural tech management major hoping to be a golf course superintendent which I why I chose turf grass as my plant. the following is a discription of the presentation and attached will be a lecture with all the information and an example presentation. (slides 3-18)
The oral presentation is to be delivered in class by the student as a 15-minute lecture. This assignment is tied closely with LO3 and LO4 described above. In this, students will be required to research the peer-reviewed scientific literature and synthesize available knowledge about a commercialized plant industrial product, and its importance to society. Popular press and corporate reports are acceptable sources, but the lecture should be given from a primarily refereed science-based perspective, and thoroughly supported by peer reviewed articles. Besides the oral presentation, a readable printed version of the PowerPoint slides that includes literature cited (condensed overall to a few pages), must be provided as a hand-out to all students in the class upon starting the lecture, and submitted to the instructor on D2L (or email) by the end of the day the lecture is given. The topic (plant product) is of the student’s choosing, except that it cannot be a topic covered in detail in the lecture and must be pre-approved by the instructor. In addition, students can earn up to 100 points for class participation.
