of the following options and write a 4-5 page paper (1400-1750 words). The goal
here is to display your ability to read a play closely, unpack its meaning, and illustrate how its
meaning is reinforced or built through both dialogue and staging. You may not write about the
same play(s) more than once.
Option 1:
Female protagonists or antagonists (depending on your perspective) were featured in several
stories such as “Food for the Dead,”
Romeo & Juliet
, “La Pinta,” “Plumes,” “Trifles,” and
Sorry,
Wrong Number
. What were some common themes that weaved these tales together and how are
these themes/issues still relevant in today’s society?
Outside Sources
You have the option to incorporate some literary criticism as well. What is important here is that
the sources you use are credible, scholarly, and contain enough depth. Sources such as
Wikipedia, SparkNotes, Shmoop, eNotes, etc. do not meet these criteria. Rather than using
online sources, you should be using Oakton’s databases to find books and journal art
