Watch (in its entirety): The Maltese Falcon (Huston, 1941, USA)
Response (~600 words):
Take a couple of scenes from The Last Laugh or The Cabinet of Dr.Caligari and compare the lighting and shadow to scenes from The Maltese Falcon and discuss how the former influenced the latter. Include screen grabs(command + shift + 4 on a mac).
