Overview
The purpose of this assignment is to explore the application of media ethics on a much deeper level.
Before you being, you should complete the mandatory readings and at least one optional reading.
- To begin, pick an example of unethical media. You might have an example that comes to mind right away! You might want to explore an example we brought up in class on a deeper level! You may have no idea what to write about! Please reach out to me if you're not sure what you'd like to use as your topic. You can also search Google for examples, if you prefer!
- Look up the history of the unethical incident. What led to the incident? What was the incident? What was the fallout? You can use a mixture of popular and academic sources for this portion (but please still cite your sources and create references in APA style).
- Ask yourself, what made the circumstances unethical. Consider the readings and lecture about media ethics. Using your understanding of media ethics, try and explain what occurred in terms of ethics. (Again, always cite your sources, even if the source is an assigned reading or video lecture).
- Write a 2-3 page reflection (APA style, no title page required, references do not count towards page count).
Your reflection should include the history of the incident (to give me context) as well as the exploration of the ethics of the occurrence.
