I'm working on a film question and need a sample draft to help me learn.
- What stood out? Was there anything about the film that seemed to epitomize its status as a holiday film? Was there anything that seemed to seemed to be very anti-holiday film?
- Think about syntactic and semantic approaches to film genre. In the module, I mentioned a film like Die Hard that might contain the semantics of a holiday film (presents, Santa hats, etc.) but that does not follow the syntax of a holiday film. Now, consider the reverse: a film that follows the syntax of a holiday film but does not contain the semantic elements. Can you think of one? I will give my example in a discussion post, but you won't be able to see it until you post.
