Overview
Prompt: In 6-8 pages, use one film from class to examine how ideas about colonialism and/or anti-colonialism are threaded through the film. Use themes, narrative, characters, formal/aesthetic strategies to make your point.
Your paper should have a clear thesis statement that provides a roadmap for what you are going to discuss in the rest of the paper. And please make sure to take a position in your paper. Also, DO NOT summarize the film – I’ve seen the films, so when writing about a film just assume that I already know the plot.
Remember you can write about ANY film screened in class and you can use readings from ANY week to help you in writing the paper. However, you MUST use AT LEAST TWO readings from OUTSIDE the course – and these must be from academic journals (use Google Scholar).
Please also use a bibliography and cite the work that you do use.
