Overview
Format: The paper should be typed, double-spaced, and submitted in MS Word format as an email attachment.
Length: a thousand words to two thousand words.
Thesis: Write a thesis in a document separate from the main paper assignment.
Instructions: Begin by re-reading the notes on the three rom-com elements. Then choose a comedy from the following list: Some Like It Hot; Bringing up Baby; You’ve Got Mail or Sleepless in Seattle.
Assignment: Write a 1250--2500word essay about a) how the movie you selected reflects the standard romantic comedy and its four basic elements and b) what sets the film apart as its own sub-genre, i.e., what makes it a Screwball, Sex Comedy or Neo- Romantic? Don’t short-change the subgenre aspect.
