East Los Angeles College Geology Mineral Uses Treasure Hunt

Overview

The homework is another fillable PDF. This week, there aren't any graphs or diagrams for you to do — the entire assignment consists of matching and fill-in-the-blank questions.

Here's the PDF: Mineral uses.pdf.

As always, as you fill out the homework, save often. When you're done, save one last time, and then close the file and quit Acrobat Reader (or whatever app you're using to fill in the PDF). Then, reopen the file, to see if your answers are still there! Hopefully the bug in some PDF's won't hit you (if it does, you'll have to "flatten" your PDF so your answers stick).

When you do the homework, you'll need to look at some web sites. For the first page, use both of these web sites:

http://www.minerals.net/minerals/a.aspx This is an on-line mineral encyclopedia. Click on the name of each mineral to learn about it. Scroll down to find out about uses.

http://www.mineralseducationcoalition.org/minerals

For the second page, use this web site:

https://pubs.usgs.gov/gip/0167/gip167.pdf

Enjoy learning about mineral uses! If you have questions, just let me know!
