1. This week, I’d like you to go beyond the textbook and take a deeper look into the world of hospice care. While it's important to understand the guidelines, regulations, and systems from a Health Information Technology (HIT) perspective, it’s just as important to understand the human side of this field.
To help you gain that insight, I’m asking you to watch the following:
- One documentary that provides an overview of hospice care
- Two short documentaries or interviews featuring a hospice nurse sharing her personal experiences
After watching, please reflect on what you’ve learned. In your response, include:
- Your personal thoughts and reactions to the documentaries
- What stood out to you about the nurse’s experience
- How you think this deeper understanding will shape your future work as an HIT professional
The goal is to connect the emotional and ethical aspects of hospice care with your technical role, and consider how you can support both patients and providers more thoughtfully through your work.
