The purpose of this discussion is to analyze the factors that drive addiction and to consider alternative treatment models. You will also be providing you opinion on the legal status of certain drugs and offing ideas for how to help those how are dependent.

Watch this TedTalk regarding addiction and treatment then answer the following questions in a well-written 3-4 paragraph post.
- How did the speaker’s opinions differ from "traditional" addiction treatment and/or drug offense punishment? Provide examples.
- Do you think marijuana and/or alcohol are “gateway drugs”? Explain.
- Do you think (currently illicit) drugs should be legal? If so, which ones and with what restrictions?
- How would you help a close friend who was addicted to drugs?
