For this project, you will develop an outline of your research paper. Your outline must adhere to APA formatting conventions while supporting your thesis statement and utilizing your annotated bibliography. This outline will serve as a roadmap for your final paper, ensuring that your arguments are well-supported by scholarly sources and that your work adheres to APA formatting standards.
Instructions
To develop your outline, follow these steps:
- Use Microsoft Word to create your outline.
- Write your clear and concise thesis statement. This statement should set the focus of your research paper and guide your exploration of the topic.
- List at least 4 scholarly sources that support your thesis statement. Use your annotated bibliography for reference. Ensure that the sources are peer-reviewed articles or academic publications. Each source should contribute to a key point.
- Include a full reference for each source, following the APA citation guidelines.
- Based on the 4 scholarly sources selected, identify 4 to 6 key points or subtopics that you intend to explore in your paper. These key points should support your thesis statement and contribute to a well-rounded understanding of the topic.
- Organize your outline by using the key points noted above as your main headings. Structure the outline in accordance with APA guidelines. Each key point should be supported by evidence from one of the selected scholarly sources.
- For each key point, provide a brief annotation (1–2 sentences) that explains how the associated scholarly source supports or relates to the thesis statement.
