Overview
The experiences throughout my career have helped me understand the healthcare system's systemic issues that usually affect vulnerable populations who cannot advocate for themselves. Seeing these challenges kindled my desire to work on more significant, meaningful change. This is what led me to consider pursuing a graduate degree. I chose the nurse administrator route, as the next step in my journey. When I browsed MSN nurse administrator programs curriculum, I immediately knew it was right for me. The courses on health policy, population-based care, healthcare delivery, and evidence-based nursing offered the education I needed to deepen my understanding and learn the skills I needed to make more significant changes.
I had to make some significant changes in my personal life to be able to enroll in a rigorous graduate program. However, I was determined because I knew that once I completed my education, even the minor improvements I make in healthcare delivery can impact patients and their families, sometimes transforming their entire world.
