Overview
When I was a child, I knew I would either be a teacher or a nurse. I originally focused on teaching with a double major in History and Political Science. I kept feeling a tug at my heart that I should be pursuing nursing. I finally thought ok, God, I hear you. I am going to do my part, and if this is what you want for me, you will pave the way. Sure enough, I was admitted to the nursing program the first time I applied to a very competitive program. Throughout my program and career, I have always felt drawn to pediatrics. I anticipate achieving my masters in Family Nurse Practitioner. There are many different areas I will have the opportunity to provide care in once my degree is complete, but I am hoping to focus on pediatrics. I hope to practice within the corporation where I have spent the last 9 years of my career.
The role I anticipate correlates with the AACN Master’s Essentials by aligning with the domains and concepts they outline. I plan to enrich patient care and experience to improve outcomes by utilizing the concepts of clinical judgement, communication, compassionate care, and practicing ethically. My graduate education will correlate with the AACN Master’s Essentials by equipping me with the tools necessary to obtain level 2 subcompetencies, and a clinical practicum for me to demonstrate the competencies acquired during my education.
