Final Project Planning Background For this project, you will research a topic of your own choosing

Overview

Final Project Planning

Background

For this project, you will research a topic of your own choosing and prepare both a paper and a presentation that are each meant to educate the audience. In this case, your audience will be other healthcare providers - perhaps other RTs, nurses, physicians, or others - and you should imagine that they will be reading your work and listening to you speak in order to learn something. (And to be clear, yes, the topic will be the same for both the paper and the presentation.) You are encouraged to select a topic that is relevant to your current practice, so that your work on this project may be useful to you outside of the classroom. Potential topics could include:

  • ...a specific disease state or physiologic abnormality that you want to know more about, or one you wish your colleagues or new grads at your institution understood better. For instance, if you regularly precept students or new grads in the NICU, your project could be on the physiology of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) or congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
  • ...a particular treatment, therapy, or technique being used to treat patients. Examples that come to mind are the latest biologic medication being used to treat severe asthma, bronchoscopic lung volume reduction for patients with emphysema, or less-invasive surfactant administration (LISA).

Instructions

This assignment is constructed as a quiz for ease of grading, but please know that 1) it is not timed, 2) you can save and come back to it to work on it at multiple different times/days, and 3) if you make a mistake or change your mind about something, you can submit again.

Begin the 'quiz' and answer the questions about planning your final project. These are questions that do not necessarily have 'correct' answers - rather, I am looking for evidence of deep thought about this project and what you hope to get out of it. Questions will be graded on the thoroughness of the answer.

Other notes:

  • It’s okay to use a more casual tone. However, please do edit and proofread to ensure ideas are clear.
