MEthods and outcomes Analysis Plan

Preparation

Review the information in the What You Need to Know for Week 6 activity.

Instructions

Describe the overall capstone project design and methods, including:

  • The overall method used for the project.
  • Details about the intervention and its implementation.
  • The type of data collected and instruments used.
  • An analysis plan for the evaluation of each measurable outcome.
  • The illustrated project design, methods, variables, key concepts, and relationships depicted in a concept map.

In addition, refine the concept map you created in this week's discussion activity, using peer and instructor feedback. Add the concept map to your paper in an appendix.

Requirements

The requirements outlined below correspond to the rubric criteria, so be sure to address each main point. Read the performance-level descriptions for each criterion to see how your work will be assessed. In addition, be sure to note the requirements for document format, length, and supporting evidence.

  • Describe the overall capstone project design and methods.
    • Identify the design and methodological approach of the project.
    • Describe the context, including details and nuances of the population and local environment.
    • Describe the intervention and its implementation.
  • Identify measurable outcomes.
    • Describe measurable outcomes related to the research question.
    • Describe additional measurable outcomes related to the study of the intervention (process-related outcomes).
  • Describe your data collection plan.
    • Identify the type of data that will be collected for each identified, measurable outcome, including details about its source.
    • Describe specific methods of data collection you are going to use, including tracking and documentation.
    • Describe the instruments to be used to collect identified outcomes data, including measures of validity and reliability for each instrument.
  • Create an outcomes analysis plan.
    • Explain how you intend to analyze your outcomes data.
    • Describe the program or tool you will use to analyze data.
    • Describe and substantiate the use of statistical tests for significance or other statistical analysis.
  • Create a concept map.
    • Be clear when labeling and describing the illustrated variables and concepts.
    • Summarize in 1–2 paragraphs the project design, methods, variables, key concepts, and relationships depicted in your concept map.
  • Address the appropriate audience, using familiar, discipline-specific language and terminology.

Additional Requirements

  • Written communication: Format your document using APA style. An APA Style Paper Tutorial [DOCX]Links to an external site. is provided to help you in writing and formatting your paper. Be sure to include:
    • A title page and references page. An abstract is not required.
    • Appropriate section headings.
  • Length of paper: Your paper should be 4–5 pages in length, not including the title page and references page.
  • Supporting Evidence: Include at least two credible sources of evidence. Provide in-text citations and full references in APA format for each source.

Competencies Measured

By successfully completing this assignment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and rubric criteria:

  • Competency 4: Compose a formal capstone project proposal, substantiated with evidence, to support all elements required for evidence-based improvement of an identified healthcare or public health challenge.
    • Describe the overall capstone project design and methods.
    • Identify measurable project outcomes.
    • Describe a data collection plan.
    • Create an outcomes analysis plan.
    • Create a concept map.
  • Competency 5: Produce written work that demonstrates critical thinking and application of knowledge, in accordance with Capella’s writing standards.
    • Address the appropriate audience, using familiar, discipline-specific language and terminologly.
    • Week 5 feedback: Measurable outcomes → These are the things you can directly assess using your evaluation tool (in your case, the KAPS survey). For your project, that’s:
      • Knowledge (about the digital engagement toolkit)
      • Attitudes (toward the toolkit)
      • Practices (how they use/plan to use it)
These are the only outcomes you should put through the SMART process because they are directly measurable within your 12-week project window.2. Anticipated outcomes → These are the “wish list” or long-term changes you hope will happen if your measurable outcomes improve (e.g., better patient satisfaction, improved attendance rates, higher staff efficiency). You’re not measuring these directly in your project, because doing so would require much more time and resources than you have.Key takeaway for your project plan:
      • Focus your SMART objectives on measurable changes in knowledge, attitudes, and practices.
      • Use the KAPS survey as your validated tool.
      • Leave out percentages unless they are backed by your data collection plan.
      • Keep anticipated outcomes in the background as context for why your measurable outcomes matter, but don’t frame them as things you’re directly evaluating.
      • PICOT Question:
