Motivations for pursuing a nursing degree? I always had a passion for helping people. I am patient. I want to be 1 person to bring peace comfort to someone during their tough time especially when they are in pain.
Career goals and expected impact on healthcare? Career goals is to work as an ER nurse or psy nurse. Eventually become a Nurse practitioner. Possibly Psy Nurse practitioner especially working with youths. Mental health is big but the fact that I am from the island, many from my culture is not educated when it comes to mental health. Add more information how it is overlooked in my culture. I want to encourage and be a voice for my people and youths.
Any personal or academic information that you would like the decision committee to consider? I have my masters degree in Mental health and wellness. I am paying strictly out of pocket. include information how I maxed out my FAFSA loans obtaining a portion of my bachelors degree from FIU and my Masters degree. I have to pay out of pocket and I am not qualified for any more loans. I am also a single mother to a 6-year boy who has autism. It is hard. I am trying my best to be there for him and provide all of his needs physically and developmentally. I really want to focus on school and earn my BSN. On top of all of that I have to commute 80-90 minutes to school. Regardless of that, I am making the effort and very serious about my education. Earning this scholarship would definitely help alleviate the burden of working, 30-35 hours weekly on top of being a full-time nursing students, full time single mother to a child with autism.
