PURPOSE: In week 2, students chose a disease of interest. Over the next several weeks, students completed assignments related to their disease of choice. The goal of this assignment is to create a presentation that puts all of these assignments together. To fully be able to manage a disease, we must understand certain aspects of the disease.
Skills: This assignment allows you to practice the following skills that are essential to your success in this course and in the degree advancement program (DAP).
Oral Communication/Consultative Function/Knowledge Students will deliver a consultative presentation with recommendations that reflect the knowledge gained through courses in this program.
Knowledge: This assignment will also help you to develop an overview of a disease process from several different perspectives.
TASK: Students are asked to develop a PPT presentation of 10-12 slides and create a video presenting these slides. The students should act as though they are presenting this information to a group of physicians, nurses, and fellow RTs.
Checklist:
Include a title slide with the name of the disease, the student's name, course number, semester & term
The first slide should present an overview of the disease to include how it is defined. I recommend also including images, but please make sure to cite the images.
The next two slides should discuss morbidity and/or mortality related to the disease. (This is where the burden of disease is shown).
The next three slides should be a summary of the current literature related to the respective disease. (You can use what you learned in the Module Four: Article Summaries Assignment). You will want to summarize even further.
The next three slides should discuss preventative strategies. (You can use what you learned in the Module Five Assignment. Just make sure to summarize even more here.
The last slide should include your Reference List
Recording should be 12-15 minutes in length
oPoints will be deducted for any length outside of the criteria; see the rubric for additional information
You can use the references you used in Module Three, Module Four, and Module Five Assignments. I would like a minimum of 5 references with citations (so you don't have to use all of the references you found earlier. You will need to find at least one reference for your disease overview, and please make sure to cite it on that slide.
Citations and references should adhere to APA format
