1. This week, we discussed the concepts of statistical significance and clinical significance or relevance. This is a unique debate as we tend to only focus on what is statistically significant and miss an opportunity to introduce a therapy that might be clinically beneficial to the patient. On the flip side, a drug might show statistically significant improvement but has a huge cost, which would not be clinically relevant if the patient could not afford the drug. Think about how this would impact the patients you treat. I want you to always look at articles you read from a new perspective. Ask yourself if the findings are:
Statistically significant, but not clinically significant
Not statistically significant, but clinically significant
Both statistically significant and clinically significant.
