Missing abstract draft

Overview

Write a draft of the missing abstract for this paper.

Here’s why I want you to do it:

It is difficult to gain full understanding of a topic just by listening to someone talk to you through a video - you have to practice applying that information in new situations to really move that new knowledge from your short to long term memory! This assignment will give us practice writing an abstract for a scientific paper. Furthermore, this assignment provides a chance to give each other feedback on drafts before turning in a final version.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Read the missing abstract paper.
  2. Download this abstract draft template.
  3. Follow the instructions and write a full draft of your abstract.
      • Hint 1: For some tips about how much detail to include in your abstract, etc., watch this 7 min video. (If you want a full screen version, press play on the embedded video below and then click the "YouTube" link in the bottom right hand corner of the playing video to view full screen through YouTube):
      • Hint 2: For an example of an abstract and what types of information meet the different required criteria, see here.
      • Hint 3: As with all scientific writing, it is important to use your own words when writing this abstract. For a refresher on what constitutes plagiarism, and for some tips on how to avoid it, see here.
