Fluid shifts within the three major compartments within the body. Diet, disease and medications can influence the shift in fluid from one compartment to another. If circulating fluid volume is impacted, blood pressure or cardiac output may be affected. Describe how the disease process or the medications commonly taken by your PPoP impact the kidneys and/or blood pressure. You can search RC Journal, Cochrane, or other medical journals to help you make the connection.
Instructions:
- Summarize at least one research article that discusses a shift in fluid for your PPoP and the integrated systems they effect.
- Describe how the renal system's ability to regulate circulating fluid volume in acute or chronic conditions is impaired with your PPoP.
- In what way does the renin-angiotensin system respond to drops in blood pressure within your PPoP.
Each initial response must be at least 300 words, demonstrate course-related knowledge (integration of the course textbook), and include at least one peer-reviewed source. Please refer to the rubric below when constructing.
