Page 2 of your paper should contain the following, single spaced.

Abstract (100-150 words): (Note: you are welcome to use sentences from A4 in your abstracts as long as it makes sense to do so)

Begin your actual paper right on top of page 3. Everything after this point will be double spaced as usual. The total number of pages, including pages 1-2 (which are ‘cover pages’), should be seven + Bibliography and optional Endnotes (2 cover pages + 5 page essay + Endnotes + Bibliography).
- make sure to start with counterarguments, then arguments for your stance.
- Do not forget to name your A4 word doc with your full name as well as the Assignment number, e.g. "Tommy Trojan Final A4" or similar. I don't care about the order, as long as that info is there (it's ok if it doesn't say "Final," but it'll be awesome if you include that!). And please remember that as per the syllabus all submissions should be ONLY word docs to both turnitin and email. It is important to have both in case something goes wrong with one, as almost inevitably happens in some cases.
- Whether or not you included your interview transcript with A3 – and whether or not you used it for A3 and/or A4, please cut and paste it after your A4 if you did an interview. (Did not do this)
- Make sure that your thesis sentence is specific to the case you have chosen (limited in scale, for example, to one deployment of sustainability or one specific product, and not all).
- Keep in mind that the audience for this assignment is professionals within the field relevant to your topic.
- Make sure you keep your mind on what is being asked of you: stay focused. Do not, for instance, write a “solutions” paper…which would be answering a related – but different -- prompt.
- Unlike Assignment 3, which summarized other people’s writing and thoughts with respect to your chosen issue, Assignment 4 should emphasize YOUR voice and views, arguing for a position while keeping what you have learned from your sources in mind. While you are welcome to use outside sources, do so judiciously and do not let other people’s voices drown yours out.
- Note that you will be attaching a selected bibliography to Assignment 4. You may use either the MLA or APA formats, as long as you stick to one.
- Number of required sources: six to twelve, of which at least four should be scholarly sources.
- Feel free to add on or omit some sources, should you wish to add to or subtract from the ones you used for A3. This is entirely optional, as long as your topic remains basically the same.
- As we have discussed in class, the earlier assignments are graded less stringently than the 340 Rubric; A4 -- and especially Portfolio, as that is supposed to be you presenting the best work you are capable of -- are graded closer to the rubric
