Overview
When conducting an experimental analysis, or in this case, a functional analysis, antecedents and consequences that represent those in the individual's natural environments are arranged in an experimental design so that their separate effects on the target behavior can be measured. Typically, the functional analysis consists of four conditions: attention, escape, alone, and control. Once you have completed the observation of your client under all four conditions, you can graph and compare the frequency of the behavior to determine the function. Once you have correctly identified the function, you can develop a functionally equivalent intervention. For this assignment, you will complete an experimental analysis of Monica's property destruction.
Instructions
In this assignment, complete the following:
- Go to the Functional Behavior Assessment: Condition Videos media piece and watch the videos of Monica. Identify the condition and record frequency data for each video. This one is already finished, I added in the files the transcripts.
- Use the Baseline and Functional Analysis Template [XLSX] to input the data you gathered and create an experimental analysis graph.
- Interpret the data from the graph in the text box for Direct Assessment: Experimental Analysis in the Functional Behavior Assessment: Experimental Analysis media piece's text box.
To complete this assignment, copy and paste your interpretation of the experimental analysis graph from the media piece into your FBA Template and submit your graph and your template to the assignment area.
Competencies Measured
By successfully completing this assignment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and rubric criteria:
- Competency 3: Apply assessment-based techniques to practice in ABA.
- Record frequency of an identified target behavior.
- Determine the function of behavior by interpreting data from an experimental analysis graph.
- Input data gathered from the client observation into graph.
