Overview
For this journal submission, you will integrate a reflection from your own life experiences with a synthesis of this unit’s material.
Begin your journal by explaining in your own words, the process of respiration. Illustrate your explanation with an example (other than smoking) from your own experience (or someone you are familiar with) of any limitations or hazards that can negatively affect this process.
Next, identify major lung diseases caused by smoking. Explain how these same diseases can also be caused by second-hand smoke in a non-smoker. Offer an example of how smoking has directly or indirectly affected the health of you or someone you know.
Finally, we have learned nicotine has deleterious effects on the heart. What are those effects and what can be done about them? Do you believe vaping poses the same concerns? Explain and support your rationale.
Your journal submission must be at least two pages but no more than three pages in length. A title page (if used) and the references page do not count toward this requirement. You must use at least two peer-reviewed or academic sources to support your journal submission. One of these sources must come from the AMU Online Library. All sources used must have citations and references properly formatted in APA Style.
