I am currently completing my Doctorate in Health Administration at Morehouse School of Medicine and am in the final phase of my capstone white paper. I am requesting your support in applying the DHA White Paper Template and Revision Checklist to my paper and preparing it for final submission.
My white paper focuses on Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Trainings and their impact on rural Mississippi communities. The purpose of the paper is to examine how expanding access to MHFA training can improve mental health literacy, early intervention, and referral pathways in underserved rural areas that face persistent barriers such as provider shortages, stigma, transportation limitations, and limited broadband access.
This topic is deeply personal and meaningful to me. I am originally from rural Mississippi, and my commitment to improving access to mental health resources comes from lived experience. In 2017, my younger cousin, Josiah Turner, died by suicide at the age of 14 after struggling with depression in a community that had very limited mental health support. His passing profoundly shaped my professional path and my dedication to building systems that prioritize prevention, education, and early intervention.
Through my academic and professional work in healthcare administration, I have seen firsthand how gaps in mental health infrastructure disproportionately affect rural families. This white paper is not only an academic requirement, but a professional and personal mission to contribute to sustainable solutions that can save lives and strengthen communities.
In addition to the main draft, I will also be sending you several previous capstone assignments that I have completed throughout the program. These materials contain content, analysis, and references that should be incorporated where appropriate to strengthen the final paper.
