Overview
Literature review focusing on how PET radiopharmaceuticals have evolved to be much more specific in the past couple decades as a result of increases in understanding of disease pathophysiology, particular specific biomarkers associated with different disease states. This will allow you to cover several areas related to the subject (e.g. rare studies, either due to low incidince of the disease or due to a RP just being approved for use). The overall point would be to illustrate how the advances in understanding of disease states (e.g. identification of specific biomarkers) drives the development of diagnostic/therapeutic PET RPs, technology, and techniques.
A quick review showed me that myocardial perfusion PET, prostate cancer PET, breast cancer PET, and Alzheimer's disease PET could be good subtopics for such a paper (see attachement for some notes on each). The notes kind of highlight what been used to use that may not have been ideal and what is available to use now (not to mention what RPs are currently being developed). This topic can be broken down into subsections to aid in time spent, and would be important in that it will highlight the progression of diagnostic imaging strategies as informed by progression in understanding of specific diseases states
