Provide a list of at least five communities or groups to which you belong. These groups/communities can be based on race/ethnicity, geographic identity, fraternity/sorority, or any other group or community identity. From your list, choose the one identity that you feel is most essential to who you are. Why did you choose that identity over the others? How easy or hard was it to choose?
Please familiarize yourself with all of the Learning Materials for this module.
Application Question:
Now, applying your learning materials, in addition to any external sources you may want to bring in, discuss the following questions together:
What are some things that you think public health practitioners should know about your chosen identity group if they want to do any kind of health behavior work?
Is there a preferred communication method(s) and/or social media platform for your chosen identify group that should be utilized by public health practitioners in public health messaging? How might public health messaging be best targeted to your chosen identity group?
Think about a health behavior that may be common in your identity community. What communication strategies have worked in the past, and what have not worked as well? Knowing what you now know from this course, what would you recommend as a communication strategy for this behavior? Please share examples as appropriate and use your learning materials, as well as your experiences and any external sources you wish to use, to support your recommendations.
