Discussion #2

Professional organizations have contributed to the overall development and adoption of new technologies in health care:

  1. What are the best ways for these organizations to evolve and continue to meet the educational and professional support needs of health professionals in today’s technology-rich environment?
  2. How does COVID-19 affect these developments?
  3. Will the changes that need to happen make health care better or more challenging?

A minimum of one reference is required to support your responses to the discussion questions. Make sure you cite all references used in-text. Remember to respond substantially to 2 classmates.

Your responses to classmates should include a reference and follow-up question. See example below.

Sample Substantial Response to a Classmate:

Hello Amy!

Your post was very insightful as it has captured the main aspects of leadership and management. I loved how you asserted that healthcare managers should capture the legal side of things to improve the services at a facility. Furthermore, interpersonal skills, a contingent element for healthcare managers, have been clearly outlined. Many people seeking health services are exasperated by the many pressures surrounding them. Therefore, having astute interpersonal skills adds quality service delivery (Webb, 2018). You also illustrated the difference between leadership and management. Leaders are overtly inspirers of vision as they rally people to tag along, while managers are mainly involved in ensuring that day-to-day activities are up and running. Nonetheless, regarding leadership being inherent or acquired from training, what is your view about some of the local leaders in religious institutions and activist groups? Are they born with the capabilities, or does it come with training?

SECOND PART OF ASSIGNMENT ( REPLYING TO 2 STUDENTS) :

2. How does COVID-19 affect these developments? (STUDENT 1)

COVID-19 was a catalyst for rapid adoption of technology in both healthcare education and professional development. Many healthcare systems and professional organizations rapidly transitioned their educational programs (i.e., in person training) to virtual learning environments so that they could continue to educate their workforce without compromising the health and well-being of the students/learners. With the rapid growth in use of telehealth, remote collaboration tools, and virtual conferences; healthcare providers were able to quickly develop the knowledge base necessary to address new clinical challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic provided an opportunity to demonstrate the efficiency of digital education platforms for delivering large-scale training and supporting the workforce during public health emergencies.

1. What are the best ways for professional organizations to evolve and continue to meet the educational and professional support needs of health professionals in today’s technology-rich environment? ( STUDENT 2)

The purpose of professional organizations is to advance their members' knowledge and skill, through the development of digital education and training programs; which will allow for a rapid response to evolving technologies in the field of healthcare. Examples of these digital education and training programs would include; online continuing education courses, virtual and web-based conferencing events, and interactive web-based educational tools. Additionally, the professional organization may establish a virtual community for its members; where they can communicate and exchange information about best practices in using new technologies. The use of digital education and training will assist healthcare organizations and workers in developing the necessary skills required for operating effectively in today's modern healthcare environment.
