For this assignment, you may either submit a student paper or presentation. (A student paper would need to be 1-2 pages; a student presentation would need to be about 4-6 slides, including presenter notes for needed content.)
Steps for Completion of Assignment:
- Using the resources provided in this competency, or finding your own secondary dataset, complete a review of the dataset of your choice, but related to your current research theme. Use the following questions to guide your analysis.
- What data is being collected?
- How is it organized?
- What variables are used in the collection process?
- Why was this data collected?
- How large is the participant number or data sample size?
- Other questions you feel are important.
- Provide a self-analysis of why you selected this dataset. What appealed most to you? How does this dataset align with your current research direction? What is missing from the dataset? What would you need to answer a potential research question?
- What did you learn from your study of a secondary dataset? How will this analysis help you as you continue to look for the dataset you need for your dissertation?
