Overview

With a laissez-faire management style, there was a lack of structure and accountability, which negatively impacted the work environment. Staff often did what they wanted, especially when the team was not fully prepared or supported. It was impossible to report concerns because the workplace felt unfriendly, and there were no real consequences for unsafe or unprofessional behavior. Confidentiality was an issue, too. When someone reported a concern, the information often reached the people involved, which then created distrust and made staff less likely to speak up. I often heard coworkers say they liked working there because they could "do whatever they wanted," which really showed that there was a lack of leadership. Over time, many employees left, resulting in fewer staff and heavier workloads, putting the safety and well-being of the residents we were responsible for at risk.
