Overview
Objective
- CLO1: Identify problem behavior using a full range of assessment practices
- CLO2: Conduct a functional (analog) analysis of behavior
- CLO3: Identify and define appropriate target behaviors and their relevant environmental variable
Instructions
The second part of the BSP Assignment is to collect ABC data of the target behavior that you have selected in BSP Assignment 1.
The analysis of A-B-C data will help to identify the function or functions of behavior. An observer uses an A-B-C data sheet to notate occurrences of the behavior (B), the antecedents immediately preceding the behavior (A), and the consequences immediately following the behavior (C). Once several instances of the behavior have occurred, the observer may have enough information to form a hypothesis of the possible function of a behavior.
- Antecedent- The events, action(s), or circumstances that occur immediately before a behavior.
- Behavior- The behavior in detail
- Consequences- The action(s) or response(s) that immediately follows the behavior.

After reviewing all of the previous lecture engagements and instructional videos, please complete the assignment below.
- Download the attachment.
- In the document, fill in the problem behavior of the character chosen in BSPA1.
- Fill in the topographical definition (What does the behavior look like when this person engages in it?) of the behavior based on any feedback provided. Include a non-example along with your definition.
- On an ABC data sheet, record 8 occurrences of the behavior that you selected. For each instance of the behavior you observe, write an antecedent and consequence to that behavior.
- Identify antecedents and consequences to each instance of the problem behavior.
- Identify the correct contingency for each ABC sequence in the designated row. Each correct response is worth 1/2 a point.
- The rubric shows you how the assignment will be graded. Make sure to go through the rubric to ensure that you have followed each guideline.
