Overview
Module 6: Discussion 3-Patient Centered Outcomes and Data Analysis
Assignment Overview
In this discussion assignment, you will connect your research question and data plan to patient-centered outcomes, considering the ethical and cultural implications of your proposed analysis. This assignment builds on your previous work and moves through the Modeling and Preliminary Evaluation steps of the Data Science Roadmap, preparing you for your midterm paper.
Assignment InstructionsPart 1: Patient-Centered Outcomes (100-150 words)
Building on your research question and data plan from previous assignments:
- Identify at least two patient-centered outcomes that relate to your research question. Explain why these outcomes matter from the patient's perspective, not just from a clinical or organizational standpoint.
- Describe one specific relationship you plan to test in your analysis (e.g., "Does medication adherence relate to diabetes control?"). Explain why understanding this relationship would be meaningful for improving patient-centered care.
Part 2: Ethical and Cultural Considerations (100-150 words)
Reflecting on your research question and data plan from previous assignments:
- Identify at least two potential sources of bias in the dataset that could affect conclusions drawn from your analysis. How might these biases influence care delivery decisions?
- Discuss how existing health disparities might be reflected in your selected variables. How could these disparities impact the interpretation of your findings?
Initial Post Requirements
- Respond to parts 1 and 2 in 200-300 words in total
- Use at least 3 scholarly references to support your discussion
- Include specific examples from the dataset and your research question and data plan to illustrate your points
- For part 2, draw on the Ethical AI in Healthcare lecture and the Ethical AI Decision Framework Exercise (if completed) from Module 5.
