Before making your post, find 3 adult volunteers who are NOT healthcare professionals. There should be one volunteer in each of the following age groups:
- Young/early adult, 18-39 years
- Middle adult, 40-59 years
- Older adult, 60 years and older
For each volunteer,
- Complete the eHealth Literacy Scale Questionnaire
- Calculate their total score
- Calculate their literacy level
Initial post:
- For each volunteer, state the age/age group, their proficiency level, and specific low scoring items. The low-scoring items represent areas that they rated themselves low in terms of perceived literacy.
- Discuss the role of the informatics nurse in promoting health literacy and the impact of improving health literacy in clients.
- Discuss the role of the informatics nurse in educating patients on their rights to access, review, and correct personal data and medical records.
- Support information with at least 2 current and professional sources (published within 5 years). In addition to current sources, older sources may also be included if used for historical context.
