Overview
Work 1 - Part 1 - Business Interview and Identification of Behavioral Pinpoints.
General Description of the Job
In this first phase of your Performance Management Project, you take on the role of an OBM consultant who performs a formal consulting reception. You will conduct a structured interview with a manager or supervisor of an ABA clinic, a human services agency, a school-based program, or a comparable behavioral health organization. Its objective is to identify significant performance concerns and translate them into precise behavioral pinpoints that can serve as a basis for measurement design and intervention in later phases of the project.
Job Indication
Select an organization and identify a manager, director or supervisor willing to participate in a structured 30- to 60-minute interview. After the interview, write a 3–4-page formal consulting report that addresses the four components below.
Component 1 — Organizational Context and Interview Summary
Provide a clear professional description of the organization: service model, population served, approximate staff size and the role of the interviewee. Summarize the interview in a structured and professional format. Articulate the purpose of your consulting visit using behavioral language. Raise performance challenges from the beginning using OBM terminology.Component 2 — Behavioral Pinpoints (2–3 Required)
Identify between 2 and 3 discrete behavioral pinpoints that represent significant performance concerns. Each pinpoint must be observable, measurable and under the control of the performer (performer-controlled). Distinguish each one as behavior (which the executor does) or as achievement/accomplishment (the product). Justify each classification in terms of OBM.Component 3 — Application of the ACORN Mission Test
Apply the ACORN test (Accomplishment, Control, Overall Objective, Reconcilable, Numbers) to the stated mission or to the main performance objective of the organization. Evaluate each element explicitly. Where does the mission fall short and how would you review it?Component 4 — Preliminary Analysis of Performance Gaps
Identify between 2 and 3 potential performance gaps between current and desired behavior. Briefly consider whether antecedent, consequent or system-level factors may be maintaining each gap. Demonst thinking at the systems level (supervision practices, organizational structure, resource availability).Format 3–4 pages, double space, Arial 12 pt, 1 inch margins. APA 7 for any source cited. Section headers are required.
