Part 1 - Reflection Question
Access to one’s health information for many healthcare consumers is indeed a new concept. Bill paying online? Why not schedule your next dental appointment online? Lab test results? Access the results on your mobile app. Suddenly, access to one’s health information is seamless and does not even require a trip to the clinic or hospital! Let’s look at what impact this has in our last discussion together.
- Have you used a patient portal or mobile health app? How did/do you like it? Would you trust one of these with your personal information? What implications do you think trust might have for patients using portals or apps to manage their health information?
Part 2 - Application Question
- From a healthcare leader perspective, how do you see patient portals and mhealth applications changing the data collection process? How about patient-provider relationships, in general and for the marginalized population you focused on in your project? You might consider this through the lens of the COVID-19 pandemic and conccurrent economic stressors, which have driven a rapid expansion of telehealth.
Part 3 - Application Question: Resource Share
- Pick a m-health product of interest to you. Where do you see potential for this mhealth tool to reduce health disparities for one or more marginalized populations? How so? Who might not have access to this product? Be sure to share the resource, with link, with your peers.
