Case Overview
A 19-year-old female patient presents at a women's health clinic with mild abdominal pain and a malodorous vaginal discharge. She states that she is sexually active with one male partner for the past 6 months. Reports inconsistent use of condoms.
Relevant assessment findings: T: 98.6oF (37oC); HR: 88; BP: 118/74; RR:16.
She reports mild tenderness to palpation of the abdomen in bilateral lower quadrants; no rebound or guarding. Bowel sounds active.
Genitourinary Exam (Speculum): External: Unremarkable. Copious, Vaginal exam: thin grayish-white discharge coating the vaginal walls. No significant erythema. Cervix appears pink and healthy; no cervical motion tenderness (CMT0 or purulent discharge noted from the os.
Bimanual exam: uterus is normal size and mobile. Ovaries/adnexa are non-palpable and non-tender.
