Overview
Hyteroscopy
A 60-year-old male inpatient with acute kidney failure, a history of colon cancer, and colon resection two months ago presented for gastrostomy-tube placement under general anesthesia. He was receiving TPN after failing a nuclear medicine gastric-emptying study. His reported allergies included penicillin and potassium. The procedure began endoscopically, was converted to laparoscopic surgery, and subsequently required an open laparotomy because of a frozen abdomen and the presence of a tumor. A small-bowel resection was performed, and the gastrostomy tube was successfully placed.
