From E-Book. Remembering the Dead in Ancient Egypt This is an illustration on papyrus from a copy of the Book of the Dead)
2.This is a picture of the preserved Gates of Ishtar (the gates to the kingdom of NeoBabylon which are also shown in the Week 2 lecture slide) that were constructed in 575 BCE under the direction of King Nebuchadnezzar II (just 36 years before the Persians overthrew Neo-Babylonia). 4. In 27 BCE The Principate was created which ended the Roman Republic and began the era of the Roman Empire. And in what was does this cameo (broach) unmask that façade?

Cameo Celebrating Augustus (from the E book)
5. This is the Dome of the Rock (image taken from week 8 lecture slide), built during the period of the Umayyad Caliphate and still located in Jerusalem. In what was does its construction and choice of placement reflect the relationship between Western history up to the 7th century and the rise of Islam. In otherwards, in what ways is Islam a continuation of the Western religious history and in what ways were the Caliphates correct in describing themselves as heirs of Rome
