In class Thoday, we looked out how practices that come to be regarded as traditional can arise inorganically (whether they are deliberately invented, or arising as a result of sudden external events). Relate one of these concepts from class to the ideas expressed in Herder’s concept of Volkgeist from the Lonnie Johnson reading. How might these inorganically-arising traditions help to reinforce the type of nationalism that can result from Herder’s ideas?
