Overview
For my history class, I have to write a research paper. The class subject is revolved around the Near East: Ottoman Legacy through Cities.
I will provide an annotated bibliography containing my thesis and topic that you can build off of, along with the sources that you can use for each body paragraph.
Paper should include:
Topic: I would like to write about the transformation of Cairo (capital city of Egypt), under Muhammad Ali. These transformations include modernization, urban planning, and social change.
Thesis for Paper: Muhammad Ali's transformative reforms in 19th-century Cairo, characterized by European-inspired urban planning and significant social and economic shifts, fundamentally reshaped the city's identity, laying the groundwork for its evolution into a modern metropolis while simultaneously deepening social divides within the urban landscape.
