As mentioned in the learning unit overview page, this learning unit's driving question is : To what extent did the rich use race to divide the poor?
In order to answer that question we will explore and analyze Bacon's Rebellion in three document based assignments.
In this second assignment we will introduce Bacon's rebellion and what motivated people to join the Rebellion.
Instructions:
- Read the document sources on Bacon's Rebellion: Who joined the rebellion.
- Create a graphic organizer or T Chart based on the sources.
- Create a T-chart:
- In one column, identify the sources that de-emphasized or ignored the role of enslaved Virginians. Explain how or why this omission may have occurred.
- In the other column, identify the sources that emphasized the role of enslaved Virginians in Bacon’s Rebellion. Why might the author of these sources have focused on enslaved people?
