History Question

Overview

Essay Question: "I have never heard from anyone, in the form I would like to hear it, the argument for justice, the argument that it is something better than injustice. I want to hear it praised simply for itself' (Plato, The Republic, Bk 2, 358d).

What reasons does Plato give in The Republic for thinking that justice is an intrinsic good?

- Must be 5-6 pages (closer to 6, NOT MORE), times new roman, double spaced, font size 12, 1" margins, MLA format plus bibliography. (Bibliography is not included in page count)

- You have to use a LOT of quotes throughout your essay and use a LOT of sources. There should be more than 1 quote per paragraph you write. The more the better. A PARAGRAPH CANNOT TAKE UP MORE THAN A PAGE, SO KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN WRITING.

- The essay has to consist of both primary and secondary sources. There should be more primary sources than there are secondary, so keep that in mind. Use as much as possible! All primary and secondary sources are attached below. Use the secondary sources to back up your claims.

- YOU CANNOT USE ANY OUTSIDE RESOURCES FOR YOUR WORK, AND HAVE TO ONLY USE WHAT IS PROVIDED TO YOU.

- Include page numbers in your citation, and make sure they are correct! The teacher knows these books and all the readings like the back of his hand. He will check, and so will I!

- You can use whichever primary and secondary sources attached that you feel is best for your answer, but use as much as possible, if not all. YOU MUST USE THE PRIMARY SOURCE titled "Plato, The Republic, ed. G.R.F. Ferrari (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2000)." The majority of your work will come from this source to be sure to include it in your paper. Please note, the attached sources/readings are broken up into 2-3 PDF's for each, so make sure to keep that in mind. Some of the primary sources are split up into Book numbers, for example "Bk 1." I titled each PDF with the correct title as well as book number/pages.

For the secondary source that is attached titled "Malcolm Schofield, ‘Approaching The Republic’ in The Cambridge History of Greek and Roman Political Thought, ed. Rowe and Schofield (henceforth CHGRPT), (Cambridge: CUP, 200), pp. 199-217 (i.e. stop at p. 217 in the reading)." - Make sure that you are stopping at page 217. Do not read or go past this page since the teacher instructed us to, as it was not part of the class readings.

- Write the question of your essay topic at the top of your page, and make sure to number the pages correctly.

************There are 3-5+ more files that I need to upload, but study pool did not let me. So once you accept the question, I have to send you more files that you will need to write this paper*****************

*************DO NOT USE any type of AI, ChatGpt, etc. NOTHING! This must be 100% in your own words. Make sure that it is 0% detectable on ALL AI detectors because the teacher will check and so will I. Some of the AI detectors I will use to detect for AI are, but not limited to, GPTzero, Grammarly, Quilbot, Copyleaks, zerogpt, etc. So please make sure there is absolutely no AI use.****************
