- Your presentation should include:
- A brief overview of your project and why you chose it
- Key takeaways from your research or creative process
- Visuals and/or excerpts from your work
- A reflection on what you learned
- Technical requirements: a visually engaging format (you may use slides, images, or props)
- Think about your presentation like a TED Talk or a dynamic speech. When those speakers give talks and have visuals they may share short quotes but they aren't sharing long excerpts from papers or books they wrote. People should be listening to you, not trying to hurry and read a bunch of text on a screen.
They instead show photos and charts and other things to tell their story. Another style of presentation that embraces this idea is Pecha Kucha presentations (you are not creating a PK presentation; I am just giving this as an example of visually driven presentations).
The presentations are visual and therefore reach learners who are visual learners instead of just catering to auditory learners and they also are more engaging. So yes you need to make it visual, create a PowerPoint (or something of that nature) and include less words and more visuals. Your paper is about a thing, whatever that thing is, so I'm sure you can find something visual to tell the story. You should not be reading your paper, but telling the story of your project so that your classmates understand what you did and can learn from you.
The people whose presentations are engaging and visual will receive full marks in that area. Those who don't will get partial credit or no credit. This does not make up the entirety of the grade so you're free to choose what you want to do regarding this aspect of the presentation.
