In lieu of a paper, our Comparative Analysis will connect the history we have learned with current affairs, domestic and global.
For this assignment, you are to select and share a news item that is relevant at least one (1) of the topics we have covered this semester. For instance, our Discussion Forum posts have explored current events about 1) a “new” Great Depression, 2) World War II related events (commemorations and the attempted erasure of black veterans), and 3) the impact of Trump’s rereading of the 14thAmendment on Native American populations. You are to find a news article that makes similar connections to topics we have explored in this course. Once you have made your choice, you are to:
- Upload the news article into the Discussion Forum post.
- State clearly the connection between the article and the related course topic.
- Explain how and why you see this story as relevant.
- Ask a question for your classmates to respond to regarding the story.
In this way, you will not only expand your understanding of how history is relevant in our broader world, but you will also illustrate that fact in a specific way to others as well.
