INSTRUCTIONS
Format
- ion, a paragraph or so of detail, and multimedia urls (e.g., for images, videos, etc.) and 3) publication of the finished product to the web (you will share the unique url of your timeline with me when you turn in the assignment to Canvas).
For the timeline, you should think broadly about some of the important scientific advancements or changes in knowledge-making practices in the sciences from roughly the middle of the 15th century to the present, but specifically enough that you can create a tight, narratively driven timeline of events about a specific episode or trend in the history of science. I'd like for you all to come up with your own ideas about what to make the timeline about. Some examples of appropriate timelines include, e.g.: Women in Astronomy, The Discovery of the Conservation of Energy, Darwin's Voyage of the Beagle, Behaviorism in Psychology: Watson to Skinner, AI: Turing to ChatGPT, The Rise and Fall of Social Darwinism, The Life of Isaac Newton, etc. It should be broad enough that you can develop at least 8 to 10 individual markers on the timeline but specific enough that you tell one story about one aspect of the history of science.
For each individual point on the timeline you should include:
-Date (at least the year, but if you're doing a timeline on something that only take a few years--e.g., the development of the first atomic bomb--please include months and days too)
-a title for each point on the timeline
-a couple of sentences describing the significance of the event on the marker
-a multimedia item with proper citation (for most markers, this will likely be an image, though you may use video too)
