Topic: One notable business law case in 2020 was the class action lawsuit against Grubhub, the online food delivery service. The lawsuit claimed that Grubhub had misclassified its delivery drivers as independent contractors rather than employees, thereby denying them the benefits and protections afforded to employees under the law. The case raised important questions about the gig economy and the proper classification of gig workers, and had the potential to set a precedent for similar cases involving companies in the gig economy. The case was settled for $39 million.
