Overview
For the second part of your project, I would like you to expand on your business idea from part 1. Utilizing a template provided from the US Small Business Administration website (www.sba.gov), I would like you fill out and submit to me a 'lean business plan'. You MUST use the Sample Lean Business Plan template found in this module and follow the directions below.
Providing information about your business, I want you to replace the content in each of the boxes in the template with your own. Use the sample language in the template to guide what you will tell me about your business. I want this to be a very basic, introductory business plan, so please do not expand beyond the space limitations of the template boxes -- be as succinct as possible. I want this exercise to be helpful to you but not overly developed (that is for other classes here in MCOB). Use your imagination and let this be fun for you!
For greater clarification, here is the content you should include in each box:
- Starting at the top, what would you name your company?
- Identity: in one sentence, what do you do?
- Problem: what problem does your business aim to solve?
- Our solution: how does your business solve that problem?
- Target market: who needs your business product or service?
- The competition: who else does what you do?
- Revenue streams: what brings in your money?
- Marketing activities: how will your customers hear about you?
- Expenses: what are the costs associated with your business?
- Team and key roles: who is doing what at your business?
- Milestones: what does growing your business look like?
For purposes of this project, do not think you must give me 'the perfect answer'. Just give me thoughtful answers that make sense. If this is your first time conceptualizing a business plan of any kind, I hope it is interesting for you to consider these questions. If you have done this before, this should be easy for you!
