Board Meeting Report
In the most recent quarterly shrink report, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) stated that company losses have significantly increased in the last quarter. If the trend continues, there will be a big loss of profit at the end of the year. The report further indicates the driving factor causing the shrink is reported shoplifting. Store employees reported that thieves are coming into the store and just taking merchandise and leaving the store without paying for it, feeling powerless to stop it. To everyone’s surprise, the COO also points out that Lux50, Inc. does not have an actual shoplifting policy in place to detect, deter, and detain shoplifters in the store. Knowing that you are familiar with the shoplifting law in DC, the Board Chairman turns to you with a few questions to help the Board begin to draft a much-needed store policy.
