Bus 312 project on Tesla and ford

Overview

For my project, I am analyzing Tesla’s EV sales across three stages: before incentives, their current performance with incentives, and their projected future in the EV market. Because Tesla is the main focus, I will highlight its major strengths, challenges, and long-term outlook. I will also examine important competitors—especially Ford—to show how Tesla compares in pricing, market growth, customer demographics, and overall EV strategy. Looking at Ford helps show where Tesla holds a strong competitive advantage and where other brands may be catching up.

To clarify, this is not a “Tesla vs. Ford” comparison project. Tesla is the primary subject, and Ford is only being used as a competitor to strengthen and support my analysis of Tesla.

PERSON 2 — Role & Motivation + Research Questions

Responsibilities: Explain WHY analyzing EV sales is important State the business problem (e.g., slowing EV demand, competition, pricing pressure) Create 3–5 specific analytic questions, such as:

  • Which company has the strongest sales growth trajectory?

  • How do price changes affect EV sales?

  • Which demographics buy EVs the most?

  • Which company is losing market share and why?

    Using the SOAR Analytics Mode
  • This is the scenario:You have been asked to present an analysis asking and addressing an accounting, finance, marketing, operations, supply-chain, or other business-related question that you believe will help the company address an issue. Provide a write-up to the CEO of the company (or director of a nonprofit entity) containing a comprehensive summary of your analysis, as well as any recommendations for further action.Your presentation (at your instructor's option) should summarize your analysis, focusing on your recommendations and justification. At a minimum, your presentation and write-up should do the following
  • 1 Provide background and an overview. Summarize key facts about the business/organization. Describe key factors that affect the organization's performance as a profit-maximizing, governmental, or non-profit entity. If relevant, describe important current events affecting the organization that might give rise to your question.
  • 2 Explain your role and motivation. What big-picture problem are you trying to address or solve with business analytics? Why is addressing this issue important to your organization?
  • 3 Specify the question. Which specific questions are you trying to answer? How will you use business analytics to answer thesequestions? The more specific you can be with each question, the more specific your search for data and your data analysis can be. When asking a question, consider whether you can gain access to appropriate data that can answer that question.
  • 4. Obtain the data. Which data sets) will you use to answer the question? Consider using the data sources discussed in & Chapter 2 and throughout the text, as well as the other data sources listed in L Exhibit 12.6. You will need to prepare the data: Clean it as necessary to prepare for analysis and make sure the data are loaded completely, aren't missing any information, and are machine readable, numeric, and ready for analysis. Are there any issues with data quality and other data manipulations, transformations, and additional attributes you developed?
