Assignment Overview: For this final project, you are required to select an organization (your own workplace, a local business, or a well-known company). Conduct a thorough operational analysis to identify challenges in the company’s operations management practices and propose an actionable improvement plan. The goal is to apply the concepts, tools, and methodologies learned throughout the course to a real-world operational problem, providing practical recommendations.

Required Assignment Components:

  1. Introduction:
    • Introduce the chosen organization, detailing its main business activities and industry in which it operates.
    • Provide an overview of its competitive environment.
    • Identify and describe the specific operational area you will analyze (e.g., supply chain, production, inventory management, or quality control).
  2. Operational Analysis:
    • Create a process map to visually represent the workflow of the operational area.
    • Highlight key inputs, outputs, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies.
    • Identify and explain key performance indicators (KPIs) measuring operational efficiency (e.g., lead times, cycle times, capacity utilization).
    • Using this analysis and the KPIs, pinpoint specific operational problems, such as delays, waste, or quality issues.
  3. Application of Operations Management Tools:
    • Utilize at least three tools or methodologies from the course (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, forecasting, just-in-time systems) to address the operational issues.
    • Explain how these tools can improve efficiency, minimize waste, or enhance quality.
    • Include any relevant quantitative analysis, such as calculations, forecasts, or data interpretations.
  4. Improvement Plan:
    • Present a comprehensive plan to resolve the identified problems, detailing the necessary resources, technologies, or process changes for implementation.
    • Discuss the expected impact of the improvements on the organization’s performance (e.g., cost reductions, productivity increases, quality enhancements).
    • Address potential risks or challenges and propose strategies to mitigate them.
  5. Conclusion:
    • Summarize the key findings of your analysis and the proposed operational improvements.
    • Reflect on lessons learned from the project and their broader applications to operations management.

Presentation Requirements:

  1. Create a 10-12 slide PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation summarizing your project.
  2. Ensure the slides are clear, concise, and visually appealing.
  3. Use headings, subheadings, charts, and tables as necessary.
  4. Include a slide with your references in APA format.

Video Presentation:

  1. Record a video of yourself presenting your slides, ensuring that your delivery is professional and engaging.
  2. The video should be 12-15 minutes long.
  3. In the video, explain the analysis and recommendations clearly, as if presenting to a business leadership team.

You will submit two files: your slides and your video of your presentation.
