Biblical Exercise #1 – Building Exercise

Overview

Details:

Purpose This assignment aims to research two major change leaders from the Bible and to write about how their historical leadership qualities are relevant in modern times.

Parameters Your paper will be approximately 2 pages, including scripture verses as your references. All writing must be in the current APA formatting. Application of graduate-level writing and grammar should be carefully considered and implemented. This is a formal paper and may be used to present evidence of mastery to an organization.

Prompt Using the ESV translation of the Holy Bible (or your preferred translation), analyze two major events where Biblical leaders played pivotal roles in leading change: Joshua leading the Israelites into the Promised Land (Joshua 1–6) and Peter’s leadership in the early church (Acts 2:14-41; Acts 10).

Your analysis should address the following points for each leader:

  1. Context of the change:
    • Briefly describe the background and circumstances of the leadership moment. What was at stake, and why was the change necessary?
  2. Leadership actions:
    • Identify and evaluate the leader's actions to initiate and sustain change. Highlight specific strategies or decisions that demonstrate effective leadership.
  3. Resistance to change:
    • Discuss the resistance faced by the leader. How were these obstacles addressed, and what can be learned from their response?
  4. Impact of faith:
    • Reflect on the role of faith in the leader’s decisions and actions. How did their faith influence the process and outcome of the change?
  5. Lessons for Modern Leadership:
    • Based on your analysis, identify at least two key leadership qualities or traits from each leader that apply to contemporary change leadership.
